The HESI A2 exam is the nursing program entrance exam. The HESI A2 exam is four-hour, computerized test covering math, reading comprehension, vocabulary, general knowledge and grammar. 
Scores are valid for two years.

Cost: $40, due day of testing.

The HESI A2 study guide is available for purchase in the bookstore or online. Copies of the study guides are on reserve at the GCC Library.

May I retest?

You may retake the HESI A2 test after 60 days. Up to two retests are permitted within one year from the date of the first test.

The HESI PN exam is for students applying for Blocks 3 and 4 of the nursing program. It is an untimed, computerized test designed to assess basic knowledge of practical nursing. (Allow about 1 hour to complete.)

LPN applicants and transfer applicants seeking admission into Block 3 or Block 4 must achieve a score of 850 or higher to qualify.

Scores are available immediately and are valid for 6 months.

Cost: $50, due day of testing.

You may retake the HESI PN test after waiting six months.

Where can I take the test?

First, visit the Testing Services (TDS) Building on Main campus to check in and complete a form.

Take the completed form to the Cashiers Office (located inside the Enrollment Center building) to pay the exam fee. Once payment has been made, return to Testing Services and take your test.

Bring a current photo ID (GCC ID, high school ID, driver's license, passport, government/state issued ID or photo credit card).

I took my test. What happens now?

Attend a mandatory information session, and then meet with a nursing department academic advisor. Bring your printed test scores with you.
