Credit and Non-Credit English as a Second Language

Students wanting to learn English have two options for classes at GCC. The non-credit ESOL courses help students learn conversational English. The credit ESL classes teach students how to speak and write for a job. Each program has a different placement test. The options are described below.

Students must take the CELSA to enroll in the credit ESL classes. Students can be placed into the non-credit ESOL courses with CELSA test scores.

The Global Education Services team can help students decide which program to start. Feel free to start by visiting the GCC Enrollment Center to get more details about the differences between the credit and noncredit ESL classes.
