ACCUPLACER and CELSA Placement
Five Easy Steps
Step 1 - Visit the Enrollment Center
- Fill out and submit a Student Information Form (SIF) or download and print out a SIF (below) and bring it an Academic Adviser in the Enrollment Center:

- SIF Hoop of Learning, (.pdf) a High School to College Bridge Program for Native-American Students.
Step 2 - Study and prepare to take ACCUPLACER or CELSA placement.
The ACCUPLACER assessment test measures your reading, writing and math knowledge level so we can identify the best classes for your success.
It’s free, multiple-choice, computerized, and untimed. Plan on about 2 hours.

New students who speak English as a second language are required to take the CELSA assessment test.
This test measures your understanding of the English language. Your score helps us identify which classes are most appropriate for you.
CELSA is a free, 75-question, multiple-choice, computerized test. The CELSA test is written in English and is a 45-minute timed test.
Prepare for the CELSA
Step 3 - Take ACCUPLACER or CELSA
|ACCUPLACER Test - Allow at least 2 hours to complete test|
Testing begins at 8:00 am
Last test begins at 4:30 pm*
Testing Services closes at 7 pm.
All tests must be completed by 6:50 pm.
Testing begins: 9 a.m.
Last test begins: 3:15 pm*
Testing Services closes: 4:30 pm.
Tests must be completed by 4:20 pm.
|CELSA - 45 minute timed test|
Testing begins: 8 a.m.
Last test begins at 5:45 p.m.*
Testing Services closes: 7 p.m.
Tests must be completed by 6:50 p.m.
Testing begins: 9 a.m.
Last test begins: 3 p.m.*
Testing Services closes: 4:30 p.m.
Tests must be completed by 4:20 p.m.
Allow at least 2 hours to complete.

*Arrive 15 minutes early. Bring a current photo ID (GCC ID, high school ID, driver's license, passport or government/state issued ID).
Students must allow enough time to take a timed test.
Step 4 - See Academic Advisor
If you are a new student, take your ACCUPLACER Score Report to Gaucho 101 adjacent to Testing Services where you will meet with an advisor and build your first-semester class schedule. See recommended course placement details on Course Placement Chart (PDF).
Continuing students that are retesting may see an academic advisor in the Enrollment Center.
Scores are also available in 24 hours after testing in your my.maricopa.edu/ student account.
Step 5 - Retest
May I retest? Yes! You may retest after 24-hours (or later). Then, wait three months (or later) and you can retest a second time. Scores are valid for two years.
