Academic Assessment & Program Review

Glendale Community College prides itself on excellence in teaching and learning and on the variety of programs offered to students and community. To maintain these points of pride, GCC strives to cultivate an assessment community focused on specific outcomes that truly prepare students for further higher education, employment, and advancement. The success in our academic assessment program stems from a belief that assessment of a student’s academic achievement has a fundamental role in the improvement of student learning. A sound program of assessment is essential to the verification of an institution’s accountability to both its internal and external constituents.

GCC not only has a sound program in place for its assessment of student learning outcomes, there is also a program in place to assess and review the institutional programs to ensure everyone on the campus is doing everything possible to achieve and foster student success.

There are many layers of assessment and review:
  • Academic Course-Level Assessment
  • Academic Program-Level Assessment
  • Academic Program-level Review
  • Academic College-Wide Assessment
  • Institutional Program Assessment
  • Institutional Program Review

All of these layers of assessment and review are lead by a team of faculty, employees, and administrators know as CART – College Assessment and Review Taskforce. This taskforce is made up of leaders from various departments and content areas to offer a diverse and robust team of assessment and review leadership to GCC.
