Theatre Arts Students Earn KCACTF Nominations
The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) recently nominated eight GCC students to compete at the regional level in February 2019 at the Los Angeles Theatre Center in Los Angeles, CA.
The KCACTF honors the excellence of overall theatre production at colleges and universities, and offers student artists individual recognition through awards and scholarships in playwriting, acting, criticism, directing and design.
From GCC’s Spring production of The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee, the nominees are:
- Will Rippenkroeger, Acting
- Kira Kadel, Acting
- Maria Cruz, Stage Management
- Gabby Martinez, Set Design
- Scott Readel, Sound Design
- Scott Readel, Media Design
- Aura Aguilar, Costume Design
- Brandy Aguirre, Assistant Stage Manager (Meritorious Achievement)
- Nicolette Nuñez Martinez, Assistant Stage Manager & Dance Captain (Meritorious Achievement)
- Samantha Fox, Costume Designer (Meritorious Achievement)
These students will join Julia Jones (Acting), Stephen Harsha (Acting), Daniel Evans (Sound Design) and Justin Martinez, Assistant Stage Manager (Meritorious Achievement) from Almost, Maine.
The regional festival showcases the finest of the region's entered productions and offers workshops, symposia, and regional-level award programs. Regional winners go on to compete at the National Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in April, 2019.
