Federal Pell Grant (FPG)

The maximum award for a Federal Pell grant is $5,730 per year for the 2014-2015 Academic year (Fall/Spring/Summer) (depending upon eligibility). A U.S. Department of Education formula determines your eligibility. Awards are available over nine or 12 months; if taken over nine months there is NO eligibility for the summer session.

A Student Aid Report (SAR) will be sent to you. Errors must be corrected, and may mean a three to four week delay; submit corrections to the Financial Aid office. An SOR (Student Owed Repayment) is when you must repay portions of grants you were awarded. See withdrawal policies for more information.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

The maximum award for a Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity grant (FSEOG) at GCC is $1,000 for the academic year, depending on federal funding and subject to Student-Owed-Repayment (SOR). Students demonstrating the most need qualify first, and Pell recipients receive first priority. Nearly all SEOG goes to students who meet the priority funding deadline.
