Fire Alarm Testing
Project Dates: August 4-8, 2014
Beginning August 4th, Simplex will be conducting annual fire alarm tests at both campuses. The sirens will be tested and sounded during this time. We apologize for any inconveniences this testing will create and appreciate your patience. Student Union Restrooms
Project Dates: July 30 - August 15, 2014
The restrooms in the Student Union will be out-of-service for approximately 2 weeks for routine maintenance. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Facilities Management Department at (623) 845-3030.

Mother's Room
Project Dates: July 7 - August 29, 2014
The Employee Lounge in the Student Union (SU-106) will be out-of-service as we complete renovations to add a Mother's Room per the provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, H.R. 3590. The new Mother's Room (SU-106A) will provide a private space other than a restroom that can be used by breastfeeding mothers. The projected timeframe has been extended due to unforeseen circumstances.

The Employee Lounge area will be divided into two spaces to accommodate this requirement. As soon as we can provide access to the lounge area, we will reopen that portion of the room while we complete construction on the Mother's Room. Please use the student dining area for seating during construction. Microwaves are available near the ATMs in the northwest dining area. We anticipate 3 weeks of construction, but will work to restore access as soon as possible.

O5 Odor Abatement
Project Dates:  Summer 2014
Several years ago there was extensive flooding in the O5 Building. Though everything was cleaned and dried properly, a persistent and unpleasant odor remained present for years. An expert in this area determined the cause of the odor is due to moisture constantly being absorbed through the cement from beneath the building. To mitigate the issue, holes are going to be bored in strategic locations along the outside of the building to help release the water. We await the consultant’s full remediation plan at this time but hope to have all work completed before the beginning of the fall semester.

Room Temperatures 
Project Dates: Effective July 1, 2014
As you know, on March 5, the Chancellor's Executive Council decided to implement a temperature set point policy across the entire Maricopa District, beginning July 1, 2014. This means the summer set point is 75° (with a 3° occupancy bias). Winter set point will be no more than 72° (with a 3° occupancy bias). See Room Temperatures for more information.
