College Network Operations

It is within this department where activities pertaining to the health and welfare of Glendale Community College's technology infrastructure are executed. Additionally, the staff works with an eye to the future, in order to provide our campus clients with current and relevant technology.

A sample of our responsibilities include: all layers of network connectivity, servers provisioning, maintenance, and upgrades; data storage, backups and retrieval; multiple aspects of security, including security tips to the campus community; applications administration and user interface; liaison to third-party technology providers, including SaaS partnerships.

CNO fosters student success directly via supporting teaching and learning applications, as well as indirectly via supporting a large portion of the campus business activities at both the Main and North campuses. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure the computing services are available when needed, and perform efficiently.

There are three divisions that fall under the College Network Operations and they are Network Operations, Desktop Support and Infrastructure Support.

Network Operations, Manager: Susan Bedker
Manages the GCC computer room and is responsible for server maintenance, managing disk space, system backups and other operational tasks.

Desktop Support, Manager: Jeff Necker
Manages the GCC desktop for both Windows computers and Apple Macs. Desktop support also works closely with instructional departments to license software that is then "pushed" out to GCC computer desktops.

Infrastructure Support, Manager: Josh Krek
Maintains the GCC networks, both wired and wireless, the Emergency Alert system and Security video cameras.
