City of Glendale Intersection Improvements
59th Avenue & Olive Avenue

Project Dates:  October 2017 - March 2018

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in partnership with the City of Glendale, awarded a contract to Visus, Inc. to improve the 59th Avenue and Olive Avenue intersection. Safety improvements include installation of:

  • asphalt pavement and raised medians on 59th Avenue and Olive Avenue
  • new bus bays and sidewalk ramps on the northeast and southwest corners
  • traffic signal modifications
  • street lighting on the northwest and southeast corners and west side of 59th Avenue north of Olive Avenue

The 59th Avenue and Olive Avenue Intersection Safety Improvement Project will enhance safety, provide more efficient traffic flow and pedestrian movement through the intersection and reduce traffic congestion and delays.

Construction will get underway in late October 2017 and project completion is slated for the end of March 2018. Construction work hours will be 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; hours will vary with seasonal changes. Construction crews may work evenings and weekends, if needed.

Traffic Restrictions

During the safety improvement effort, expect traffic lane closures and restrictions; however, access will be maintained for residents, businesses, Glendale Community College staff and students and emergency vehicles.
