Public Safety Science Department

The Public Safety Science department trains students to serve in the public sector or advance in careers as police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs. The GCC Law Enforcement Training Academy is certified by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AzPOST).

The two-story PSS building houses classrooms, faculty offices and specialized training facilities like an outer wall for scaling and rappelling practice, and Defensive Tactics and Firearms Simulator classrooms. We also teach civilians how to own, handle and operate firearms safely.

The Automotive Technology program, another discipline within the Public Safety Science department, trains students to become certified in automotive repair technicians, or to expand their automotive knowledge and skills to be ready to apply for their next job.
