Start Your Career in Biotechnology  

Learn the tools you’ll need to be successful in the field of biotechnology science. From the first day of class, biotechnology students learn how to conduct lab research using industry-standard techniques.

The Biotechnology program includes an integrated two-semester internship with TGen and other local research employers. Skills and techniques you’ll learn in the Biotechnology program include:

  • Cell and tissue culturing
  • DNA identification and extraction
  • DNA fingerprinting
  • Molecular cloning
  • Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
  • Protein isolation and analysis

Follow our recommended sequence of courses to finish your Biotech AAS degree in two years.  

Biology Careers

Graduates of the Biotechnology program have gone on to careers as medical research lab technicians and assistants, forensic scientists, and scientists who conduct drug discovery/testing, agricultural biotechnology, and environmental cleanup and remediation.

Some courses also meet requirements for BS degrees in Biological Sciences (Genomics & Bioinformatics) and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Molecular Biosciences/Biotechnology. Please consult an advisor to plan a program of study.
