General Business (AAS)
The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in General Business program is designed to meet the needs of students who wish a broad overview of business and desire not to enroll in a specialized curriculum in business. The program is designed to acquaint students with major subject areas of business, to improve the student’s business vocabulary, and to provide students with an understanding of influencing factors in business decision making and activities. In addition, this program may aid a student in recognizing a specific business field to be pursued in future studies. Although many courses will transfer to a four-year institution, some courses do not. This curriculum is not designed to meet the needs of students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution.
This degree program includes an embedded Certificate of Completion (CCL) in General Business.
You must earn a grade of C or better for all courses within the program.
The semesters in which general education courses (SB, HU, COM, and Science) are suggested are flexible and may be switched in sequence. You should consider taking one or more of these courses during the summer session in order to distribute your class load more evenly between the semesters.
A total of nine 18 credits of Restricted Electives are required for this program. Some restricted electives may have prerequisites and/or corequisites that are not included in the total program credits. If you are interested in taking restricted electives that had additional requisites, you will need to adjust your academic plan to incorporate these courses, or obtain permission from your instructor to waive these requirements based on prior experience and/or training.
